Dr. Salah Al Aqtash

Dr. Salah Aqtash is a visionary leader in the field of nursing, a distinguished expert, and a dedicated educator. He currently holds the position of Chief Nursing Officer at the Medical Office, which is a part of Pure Health Corporate. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing nursing services within a network of both general and specialty government hospitals. Furthermore, Dr. Aqtash serves as an adjunct professor in the graduate program at Walden University, College of Nursing in the United States. He also holds the position of Visiting Professor at the College of Medical Sciences, Lebanese University. Dr. Aqtash’s educational journey started by earning his bachelor’s degree in nursing from Jordan University, followed by a master’s degree in healthcare management from California State University in Los Angeles, and his doctorate degree in nursing from the University of California, Los Angeles. His career has spanned across multiple countries including the United States, Australia, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Jordan and encompassing diverse roles within academic institutions, tertiary care hospitals, healthcare corporations, and government entities.
Dr. Aqtash’s professional credentials include an Advanced Board Certification as a Nurse Executive from the American Nurses Credentialing Center, as well as CPHQ certification from the National Association of Healthcare Quality. He is a Registered Nurse in the states of California and Washington, USA. Furthermore, he is an active member of various international professional organizations, showcasing his commitment to advancing the field of nursing. Dr. Aqtash has been invited as a guest speaker at numerous national and international conferences, sharing his expertise with a global audience. His extensive research contributions are evident through his published research projects, and he additionally serves as a reviewer for several peer-reviewed Nursing and Health Services Journals.
Prof. Abdel Rahman Ahmed Omer

Abdel Rahman Omer is the Group Medical Director of Burjeel Holdings, previously the CEO of
Burjeel Hospital Abu Dhabi (a unit of Burjeel Holdings), a Professor of Surgery, the Chairman of
Burjeel Academics, Development & Training Institute, an accomplished Consultant Surgeon and
an internationally renowned speaker and lecturer in medical management, motivation, ESG
(environmental, Social and Corporate Governance, and an advisor for United Nations Sustainable
Development Goals) and surgery.
He graduated in medicine from the University of Khartoum and University College London.
Trained in surgery at UCL and Oxford and Cambridge Programs. He is a keen medical researcher
and obtained a Master in Surgical Sciences degree from the University of London (UK) and a PhD
in Medical Management from Hartford University (USA). He also received certification in AI in
Health from Taipei University (Thailand) and Corporate Governance from Wharton (Aresty
Institute of Executive Education, University of Pennsylvania – USA).
Educated during his early years in the UAE, Sudan and UK. His professional journey started with
training in Surgery in the UK and the USA with short spells in France, Italy, Sudan, Japan, Germany,
and India. He served as a Consultant Surgeon and Director of Surgery (Ipswich Hospital), Regional
Lead in Medical Training, Pelvic Cancer Services and regional projects management (East Anglia
– England – U.K.) and was elected as a Governor (NHS – EAST ANGLIA, UK) before coming back
to the UAE to serve as a Consultant Surgeon and the Chief Executive Officer for Burjeel Hospital
Abu Dhabi – VPS group and now Burjeel Holdings, one of the most sought after health care
organizations in the Arabian Gulf and MENA regions with a global presence.
He served as a Board Member in a number of Companies (Global Medical Technology Ltd (UK),
Black and White LLC (Geneva- Switzerland), Encompass Health Care Ltd (Eng. U.K.) and Ocean 6
Ltd (ADGM – Abu Dhabi -UAE)

Chief Nursing Officer at King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC)
Dr. Al-Ruzzieh is the Chief Nursing Officer at King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC) in Jordan. Under her leadership, KHCC becomes the first hospital in Jordan, 10th hospital outside US to achieve Magnet® Designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) in 2019. This distinction was achieved through shared governance, autonomous professional nursing practice, and interprofessional collaboration across the organization.. In partnership with executive colleagues, she developed the strategic actions to achieve high quality patient centered care (PCC) and maintaining patients trust and continuity of care and currently serving as the chairperson for PCC at KHCC where patient are involved with 50% representation in the committee .
She believed that professional development is a life long journey for professional nurses and education is great enabling factor for them to provide best care, so she established the professional development unit in the center which achieved two major accreditation aiming to assure high standards for nursing training. The unit for continuous education provider accreditation from ANCC and finally in 2022 the accreditation with DISTINCTION for the first Oncology Nursing Residency Program in Jordan and second in the Middle East
Received her doctorate from the University of Jordan. On a national level, she has served as a member of the executive board for the Jordanian Nursing Council. She has many publications as well as presentations in international professional meetings. In 2013, she was the first winner for HRH Princess Mona Al-Hussien Award for Nursing Leadership in Jordan.

Mr. Deans is an accomplished c-level executive with over 33 years of experience predominantly in the healthcare industry, showcasing adeptness in leadership, strategic planning, business development, and corporate operations. In 2017, he was appointed as the President & CEO of Health Sciences South Carolina, the United States’ first statewide biomedical and health research entity. This marked a continuation of his c-level and leadership roles in health systems, including notable positions as Vice President and COO at Chesapeake Regional Healthcare, in addition to serving as their CCO and CIO, Vice President and CIO at Bassett Healthcare, and Director of Technology at Greenwich Hospital, within the Yale-New Haven Health System. His career trajectory reflects a profound commitment to enhancing strategic imperatives and operational efficiencies within healthcare organizations.
Ken is a candidate for the Doctor of Health Administration (DHA) degree at the Medical University of South Carolina, expecting to graduate in December 2023. Cathy has more than 25 years of international experience in nursing and midwifery and is a highly skilled certified coach and mentor. She has held numerous leadership positions in healthcare across the UK’s NHS, Ireland, and the UAE, in emergency care, intensive care, high dependency obstetric care, cancer services, clinical operations, nursing quality, safety, and accreditation.
During her tenure as the Director of Nursing for Quality, Patient Safety, and Accreditation at Cleveland Clinic Hospital Abu Dhabi, the organization received the prestigious ‘Magnet Award,’ the first in the UAE. Cathy also collaborated with the learning and development team on a coaching program aimed at fostering leaders’ growth and supporting their personal and professional development, which has since become a lifelong passion for her.
Currently serving as the Founder & CEO of ‘OakTree Mentoring,’ an internationally award-winning mentorship program for nurses and midwives, accredited by the EMCC Global. Cathy’s involvement in healthcare start-ups, her extensive clinical experience, with a passion for quality, has provided her with a deep understanding of the behaviors that drive and sustain high performance, particularly in advocating for and delivering impactful change and best practices in delivering high-quality patient care. Cathy established OakTree Mentoring to provide such crucial support. The program currently supports over 200+ nurses in 50+ countries around the world and continues to grow. The program has established mentorship support for hospital systems internationally, with a focus on design, developement, implementation and evaluation, address pressing, unique challenges within their systems.
Cathy holds a degree in nursing and midwifery, a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) with a specialization in Project Management, and is a certified ‘Crucial Conversations’ practitioner. Additionally, she is accredited as a senior practitioner by the European Mentoring Coaching and Council (EMCC), a certified professional coach (PCC) with the International Coaching Federation (ICF), a certified Co-Active (CTI) coach, a certified Organizational Relationship System Coaching (ORSC) coach, and a certified EQ coach.

As Vice President, Ruth is responsible for the strategic direction of CHOP’s Global Medicine activities. She has developed and currently leads teams implementing strategies for all key CHOP markets, including Latin America, Caribbean, the GCC Countries, Canada, and China. She also oversees new international initiatives and relationships, aiming to increase CHOP’s global footprint and impact.
Ruth has established unique programs and collaborations with key partners around the world. She has expertise in creating programs that leverage CHOP’s clinical innovation and align with overall hospital strategies and departmental goals. Programs developed by Ruth link CHOP clinical and research leaders with international colleagues, to facilitate access to innovative treatments in Philadelphia and to develop local pediatric expertise globally.
As Vice President, Ruth is responsible for developing and maintaining high-level international relationships on behalf of CHOP. She has extensive experience working with ministries of health, embassies, insurance companies, and hospitals. She has assumed responsibility for CHOP’s Global Health and Global Education Programs, ensuring a strategic impact on healthcare for children across the world.
Ruth has been with CHOP for over 39 years. Her experience spans a wide range of clinical care settings, from the neonatal and pediatric intensive care units, to the emergency and transport services, to CHOP’s primary care practices. She played an instrumental role in establishing CHOP’s Global Patient Services department establishing diverse international team members and their roles, as well as the overall operations structure of the department.
Ruth is a frequent lecturer for professional organizations on the state of children’s health globally, and sits on the Advisory Committee of the US Cooperative for International Patient Programs, and the Moran Center for Global Leadership, Villanova University School of Business.

He was the former Head of Public Sector Consultancy in Dubai for IBM, where he was recognized as a pioneer in enterprise blockchain, being a co-author of the first IBM blockchain for government methodology and helping define the official government blockchain strategy of Dubai. While at IBM, Saqr led projects in 23 countries across Europe, Middle East & Africa where he worked with both public and private sector entities to define, create, and implement their blockchain strategies. Saqr serves on the Advisory Board of the Global Innovation Institute. With a career in healthcare spanning over two decades, Lisa has held positions at both local, national, and international levels. From working as a frontline nurse in the private and public sector, to influencing national health education policy, as the Chief Nurse of Health Education England, to programme directing a global early careers nursing leadership initiative that was part of raising the profile and status of nursing globally, namely Nursing Now in collaboration with the World Health Organization and the International Council of Nursing.

Prof. Al-Shamsi is the director of oncology services at Burjeel Holding UAE and Burjeel Oncology in GCC, president of the Emirates Oncology Society, Lead of the Gulf Cancer Society , professor of oncology at the college of medicine at the University of Sharjah. He is the first Emirati to be promoted to full professor in oncology in the UAE. He is also the chairman for colorectal cancer in the MENA region, appointed by the prestigious NCCN. He is the chairman of the oncology and hematology fellowship training program for the National Institute for Health Specialties in the United Arab Emirates. He is board certified from the UK, USA, and Canada in both internal medicine and oncology. He was an assistant professor at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center between 2014 and 2017.
He published more than 100 peer-reviewed articles in Jama Oncology, Lancet Oncology, The Oncologists, BMC Cancer, and many others. In 2022, he published the first book about cancer research in the UAE and also the first book about cancer in the Arab World, both of which were launched at Expo 2020, which has been downloaded more than 3000,000 times in its first year of publication. He has been awarded in 2022 the prestigious Feigenbaum Leadership Excellence Awards from Sheikh Hamdan Smart University for his exceptional leadership and research, and the Sharjah Award for volunteering.

Al Maaitah was the first woman in the region to take over the portfolio of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, to serve as a university president (The Hashemite University), as well as Chairperson of the Executive Council of the Arab Women Organization at the Arab League. She was also the first woman in Jordan to serve as President of the Board of Trustees of a University, Vice-President of a university (JUST), and Director General of King Abdullah University teaching Hospital at JUST.
Al Maaitah completed B.Sc./nursing from University of Jordan, Master and Doctoral Degrees in Public Health from Tulane University/USA, post-doctoral fellowship in Health Administration / Louisiana State University, and completed different Senior Executive Education Programs in leadership and power at Harvard Kennedy School of Government.
AlMaaitah is an Honorary Fellow of the Faculty of Nursing at the Royal College of Surgeons/Ireland and Recipient of Abdul Hameed Shoman Medical Sciences Award for Young Arab Scientists.
Al Maaitah is a recipient of the Order of the State Centennial, the Order of the Star of Jordan (Wisam al-Kawkab al-Urdani) of the First Order and the Bahraini Decoration of the Second Order in 2006.
AlMaaitah has addressed many forums, conferences and global platforms in higher education. nursing, health, health policy, leadership, and women participation in politics, power, policy making, economic growth and nation building as well as global security.

Dr. Zakaria Zaki Al Attal is senior consultant for organizational development and international accreditation at the MOH/ UAE and the Director of Quality at Emirates Health Services (EHS). He is responsible to facilitate the development of quality and patient safety program in the MOH. Dr Al Attal is the main advisor in the (EHS) to quality, patient safety and international accreditation. He is chairing the Quality Forum of the EHS to oversee the quality program and facilitate the international accreditation of around 100 health care facilities at EHS. Before joining MOH/UAE, Zakaria was the director of quality and performance management at the Dubai Health Authority (DHA)- hospital service sector.
He was responsible to oversee the quality, risk management, performance management, excellence and accreditation programs in the four governmental hospitals and specialized centers of the Dubai Health Authority. He is a recognized trainer and a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) as well as a Certified Professional in Patient Safety by National Patient Safety Foundation in the USA, (NPSF).
He is a lecturer at the Dubai Medical College since 2011 on quality and patient safety based on the WHO recommended curriculum for medical students. He is a member in the National Association for Healthcare Quality (NAHQ), Zakaria works as an Independent Consultant with the Joint Commission International since February 2006. Zakaria is an expert in implementing and introducing quality concepts in organizations through managing different challenges to enhance the quality and patient safety of health care services.
